Our Mission

At Ziegenfuss Voice Studio, we help singers of all ages grow into confident, expressive, and technically excellent performers. We specialize in preparing motivated students ages 14–18 for college musical theatre programs and professional careers — and we’re equally proud to support adult singers who are exploring their voice, returning to lessons, or refining their artistry.

Our Approach

We believe exceptional training is built on both skill and support. Our teaching is grounded in evidence-based vocal pedagogy and adapted to each student’s voice, personality, and goals.

We work with students in a range of styles — including musical theatre, classical, and contemporary — and help each singer build a healthy, flexible, and expressive instrument for life on and off stage.

Whether you're preparing for a Broadway audition, stepping into your first vocal lesson, or rediscovering your voice as an adult, we’re here to guide you with clarity, compassion, and excellence.

Our programs include

Ziegenfuss Voice Studio was founded on a simple but powerful belief: that every singer deserves expert training, meaningful mentorship, and the space to discover their most authentic artistic voice.

Blayne Ziegenfuss (he/him) established the studio in 2014 after years of teaching and performing professionally in opera, musical theatre, choral, and recital settings. With advanced degrees in vocal performance and a deep curiosity about the science and art of the voice, he brings both academic rigor and compassionate teaching to every lesson.

His research interests in acoustic vocal pedagogy and the Alexander Technique have shaped the studio’s evidence-based, body-aware approach to voice training. Blayne is currently completing his 1600-hour certification in the Alexander Technique, and integrates this work into every aspect of the studio’s curriculum.

What sets Blayne’s teaching apart is his ability to meet each student exactly where they are — whether they’re preparing for a college audition, stepping into lessons for the first time, or returning to singing after years away. His approach is simultaneously technical and intuitive, deeply personalized, and rooted in helping singers release tension, access freedom, and grow into their most expressive, confident selves.

Over 15 years of teaching, Blayne found his greatest joy in working with young performers — helping them grow not just as singers, but as artists. He created Ziegenfuss Voice Studio to be a space where students feel safe to explore, excited to learn, and empowered to transform.

As the studio has grown, so has its mission: to mentor other exceptional teachers, build a deeply connected artistic community, and provide the kind of pre-professional training program that Knoxville’s performing arts students need — and deserve.

Whether you’re a teenager preparing for your first college audition or an adult reconnecting with your voice, this is a place for you to be challenged, supported, and inspired.
